Tinton Falls Resident Among Those Injured in Sunday Crash

An elderly Shrewsbury woman attempting a left turn onto Seven Bridges Road hit a taxicab Sunday.

Six people were brought to area hospitals Sunday night after an elderly Shrewsbury woman's Honda Civic hit a taxicab carrying four at the intersection of Silverside Avenue and Seven Bridges Road in Little Silver.

Margaret Borden, 84, was attempting a left turn onto Seven Bridges Road at 9:05 p.m. Sunday when she and passenger Patricia Blair, 89, of Red Bank, collided with a Lincoln Town Car taxicab driven by 47-year-old Ocean Grove resident John Christensen said Dan Shaffery, Little Silver Police's public information officer.

Christensen's cab was transporting Maria Espana, 31, of Red Bank, Oscar Garcia, 27, of Red Bank, and Elber Vasquez, 30, of Tinton Falls.

Borden and Blair had to be mechanically extricated from their vehicle by the Little Silver Fire Department. Paramedics from MONOC also responded to an Advanced Life Support call for one of the injured who experienced chest pain.

Due to HIPAA law, the injured and extent of injuries sustained cannot be immediately determined.

Little Silver and Oceanport First Aid departments transported the injured to three area hospitals. Borden was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune,  Espana, Garcia and Vasquez were taken to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, and Blair and Christiansen were taken to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

Seven Bridges Road was closed at Silverside Avenue for approximately two hours. Little Silver Police Sergeant Kevin Halpin is investigating the matter further.
