Upon approaching the vehicle, it fled and a pursuit ensued that lead officers down the Parkway, according to Tinton Falls Police Chief John Scrivanic.

"At mile marker 94.5 an object was discarded from the accused vehicle which was later discovered and found to be (heroin)," Scrivanic said in a release.

Howard got off exit 91 and later stopped in the Woodlake Manor Apartment Complex in Lakewood. Howard and passenger Jason Woods, of Neptune, fled the vehicle on foot. The third passenger, Cara Dunkley, of Cliffwood, stayed with the car.

The three suspects were located and arrested and marijuana was found inside the vehicle.

Scrivanic said Woods had outstanding warrants and that Dunkley was released on a summons. Woods and Howard were transferred to Monmouth County Correctional Institute in Freehold.

Officer Sapia was assisted by Tinton Falls Police Cpl. Christopher Grimm and members of the New Jersey State Police, the Lakewood Police and Brick Police.
