Tinton Falls Junior Police Graduate with Flying Colors
After three weeks of drills, classes, push ups and adventure, the Tinton Falls Police cadets strutted their stuff at Friday's graduation ceremony.
The celebrated the culmination of another successful program with the graduation of their 2011 class on Friday night at the . The 26 middle school students displayed their marching proficiency after three weeks of practice each morning. The students spent their days in classes on narcotics, forensics, traffic accident safety and afternoons learning to repel off buildings or becoming certified in CPR.
The graduation ceremony began with Chief John Scrivanic presenting a plaque to Cpl. Daniel Marks, the Tinton Falls Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) officer, who is retiring at the end of the year. Marks spoke of leaving the force and of the community he loved to serve as DARE officer with emotion in his voice.
The students were then presented with various awards including most accurate pistol firing, most athletic, grit and tenacity, drill and ceremony and most determined. The highest honor went to Genna Forsman with the leadership award. Genna will be invited back next year as a student leader.
