Tinton Falls Driver Plows into Holmdel Police SUV; Charged with DWI

Holmdel Police were making an arrest of a suspected drunk driver when a Tinton Falls man drove head on into the police vehicle.

A Tinton Falls man was arrested and charged with DWI when his car struck a Holmdel Police Department SUV in Keansburg during the course of a separate DWI arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning, say police.

According to a police report, Aaron Rouse, 31, of Tinton Falls, ran head on into a parked Holmdel K-9 SUV with his 1995 Nissan Altima while Holmdel K-9 Officer Joseph Vanpelt was assisting in the arrest of another driver who had been stopped and charged with DWI.

Earlier, Ptl. Charles Groder of Holmdel Police arrested Sadrina Lee Rosser, 18 of Keansburg at 2:40 a.m. June 18 and charged her with DWI following a traffic stop. She had left Holmdel Twp and finally stopped in Keansburg on Main Street, they said.

Groder was waiting for Rosser's vehicle to be towed from the scene when it was struck by Rouse.

Rouse was arrested and charged with DWI by Keansburg police after a motor vehicle accident investigation, according to the report.

Officer Vanpelt was not in the vehicle when it was struck but his K-9 partner "Diogi" was in the vehicle, police say.

The police dog was unharmed in the accident, say police, but the SUV had substantial damage and had to be taken out of service.
