Tenant Throws Flaming Debris From Window To Help Extinguish Chelsea Avenue Fire

Fire was put out in minutes by Long Branch Fire Department

A fire was contained to the third floor of a three-story residential building on Chelsea Avenue Friday morning thanks to the work of the Long Branch Fire Department and a tenant.

According to the building's landlord, Edward F. Thomas, the fire started on the third floor, but did not spread to any other floors.

Thomas said the tenant, the father of a family of three, threw flaming debris from the window of his apartment to help extinguish the blaze, which was reported at 10:24 a.m.
