State Police Continue Search for Highlands Clammer by Air, Sea

As state police prepare to remove a missing Highlands clammer's sunken boat from the Shrewsbury River, the search for him continues by air and sea.

As of the time last night's search concluded, NJ State Police Spokesman Sgt. Adam Grossman said that state police divers had conducted an dive operation to search the submerged vessel's cabin area as well as a side-scan sonar to find Edward Broderick, who had been reported missing as of 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Side-scan sonar is used to capture sea floor images of a given area.

There has been no sign of Broderick, Grossman said.

As of Monday morning, the state police aviation and boating units have been conducting a resumed search by air and water with no result as of yet. Broderick's boat is being removed by Sea Tow for further examination, Grossman added.

Broderick is described as a blonde white male in is mid- to late-30s standing about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was last seen wearing free or gray sweatpants, the Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page says.

Grossman confirmed that, despite rumor, Broderick is the subject of the search.
