Retirements Bring a Restructuring to Eatontown PD

The borough council approved an ordinance at its Sept. 28 meeting that paves the way for the department to maintain the same number of staff but decrease the number of superior officers and administrative positions.

According to, the realignment will put more uniformed officers out on the road. He said the restructuring will allow for more efficient management of the department.

The borough will save $10,000 annually in salaries, according to Borough Administrator and former Police Chief George Jackson at the Sept. 14 council meeting. The realignment will provide better levels of supervision, he said.

The remodeled department command staff structure will consist of the chief, a captain, three lieutenants and six sergeants.
