Michael M. Wells died of a gunshot wound in the backyard of a Cleveland Avenue home on April 10. Wells arrived at Dutch Prime Foods for work around 4:30 a.m. that day when Bienkowski allegedly confronted him and robbed him at gun point. During the course of the robbery Bienkowski shot and killed Wells, the MCPO said in a press release issued Friday afternoon.

A co-worker reported Wells missing at 5 a.m. and an investigation led Long Branch police to a nearby residence where his body had been discovered at 8 a.m. Friends remembered Wells as "a nice guy" and an avid fisherman shortly after his death.
