Prosecutor Investigating Potential Homicide at Long Branch Apartment

Incident occurred on Willow Avenue on Jan. 3

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and Long Branch police are investigating a possible homicide that occurred on Willow Avenue last week.

County Director of Investigations Marc Limieux said police received a 911 call at 4:20 p.m. Jan. 3 for a report of an unresponsive male in the basement apartment of 326 Willow Ave. Lemieux said the address is one large home with multiple apartments.

The victim was later identified as Manuel Vilaseca Cortez, a 39-year-old male from Long Branch. Limieux said Cortez did not live at 326 Willow Ave.

He said the case is being "investigated as a homicide," but that no cause of death is available at this time and no suspects have identified.

Lemieux is asking anyone with information on the case to call Detective Jose Cruz of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office at 800-533-7443. They can also call Long Branch Police Detective Michael Decker at 732-222-1000.

My,my,my, they sure did keep this one under wraps for a few days. Perhaps to give the culprit time to get home to Mexico? We certainly dont want headlines screaming man killed by illegal immigrant . Even if the vic is most likely undocumented also. Monmouth County has a large population of undocumented residents, which both political parties ignore. They want you to pay no attention to the man mowing your lawn. He is making too much money for everyone.

IF Monmouth County has a large illegal immigrant population, it is only because a large number of Monmouth County residents HIRE them and give them the money that they come to the USA for. The solution is simple: A mandatory $50,000 fine and mandatory 6 months in jail for hiring EACH illegal alien hired. Hiring 6 would be a $300,00 fine and 3 years in jail. That approach would quickly stop the hiring of illegals very fast. During 2012 alone the Obama Administration has deported 409,000+illegals. That is more than Ronald Reagan and Bush senior deported in their entire 12 years in office combined.

I agree with you Sal, I have many friends who have lost their jobs in construction due to undocumented workers. But I dont agree with your praise of Obama on this issue. He is pushing their DREAM Act. Once we realize that Bush and Obama are no different, we can move forward. And I will bet you the never find the person that did this.

I have much work to be done around my home ,with the property taxes I pay it becomes cost prohibitive to hire a contractor to do lawn maintenance or repairs around the house when I can hire someone for 1/2 the wages wanting to do work ....do I check for citizenship ....I do the same as our Senator Menendez does ...ask no questions
