A 21-year-old Long Branch resident was driving home from a friend’s house and stopped on Broadway waiting to make a right turn on Morris Avenue, when Frye allegedly approached the passenger side door, according to Long Branch Police Detective Lt. Frank Rizzuto.

"Other male subjects then emerged and blocked the car," Detective Lt. Rizzuto said. "The driver was then pulled from his vehicle and assaulted, sustaining head and facial injuries."

The driver managed to fight back and was able to make his way back to the car and flee the area, but not before being robbed of his belongs.

Long Branch Police Officers Chris Gant and Sam Yoo were dispatched to the area and conducted the preliminary investigation.

An extensive investigation was then launched by Long Branch Police Det. Mike Verdadeiro who was able to develop Frye as a suspect.

"A complaint for robbery was signed by Det. Verdadeiro against Frye for his involvement in this incident," Detective Lt. Rizzuto said.

Detective Lt. Rizzuto said the investigation is ongoing and that anyone with information is encouraged to contact Det. Verdadeiro by calling the Long Branch Police at 732-222-1000.
