Lawrence Mihlon was promoted from captain to chief of the West Long Branch Police Department on Wednesday night.

Mihlon replaces Arthur Cosentino, who served as a police officer for the borough for 37 years.

Paul Habermann was sworn in as the department's new captain after serving as lieutenant since November, 2011.
