Power Restored To Over 1,000 Eatontown Residents

Two major outages reported on Tuesday afternoon.

Power has been restored to over 1,000 Eatontown residents on Tuesday after an afternoon outage left them without electricity on a day where temperatures reached the low 90s.

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) Spokesman Ron Morano said that 640 were without power in the borough around the area of White Street, Park Avenue, Broad Street, Lake Avenue and Shuber Place.

Morano said the outage occurred when a tractor trailer inadvertently took down some wires in the Eatoncrest Apartments area around 1:35 p.m.

Another "unrelated" group of outages occurred around the same time, darkening the homes of 550 residents. The cause of those outages were unknown, Morano said.

JCP&L is now reporting less than five outages in the borough.

There were also minor outages reported in Tinton Falls and Long Branch, but power has been restored in both towns.
