Number of Those Without Power in Long Branch Starting to Decline

Number of those without power cut in more than half since Tuesday

Homes and shops throughout the city are starting to look a little brighter and many traffic lights are functioning again.

The number of customers without electricity in Long Branch is starting to decrease, and has been cut in more than half since yesterday.

JCP&L is reporting that there are now 720 people without power in Long Branch, as compared 1,703 on Tuesday. They have said most customers should be back on the grid by this weekend or early next week at the latest.

Some city roads are still closed such as a portion of Ocean Blvd from West End Avenue to Matilda Terrace, as crews are still repairing downed power lines from an area that was hit by a "possible tornado," according to officials.

There are also downed powerlines on Cottage Place that have caused officials to close the road from Avery Avenue to Second Avenue.
