Manhattan to Manhattan 9/11 Tour Bus Rolls into Tinton Falls on Wednesday

The bus, which is touring the country to promote awareness of the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and to raise money for families of fallen firefighters, will pull into Tinton Falls Fire Company No. 1 on Aug. 24.

The will kick off its remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks when the "Manhattan to Manhattan" FireCareers.com-9/11 Patch Project bus pulls in on Wednesday afternoon.

The bus, which is touring the country to increase awareness of the upcoming anniversary and raise funds to support families of is scheduled to make a stop at the Tinton Avenue firehouse between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Fire Company No. 1 is in the process of incorporating two steel beams recovered from the World Trade Center. A dedication ceremony for the memorial will coincide with the fire company’s annual ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon.

The tour bus has made hundreds of stops at firehouses around the country since it left Manhattan Beach, CA in January on its journey to lower Manhattan in New York City for the Sept. 11 ceremonies. The Patch Project is recruiting organizations across the country to wear the special 10 Year patches. Net proceeds from the sale of patches, decals and flags will be donated to the FDNY Bravest Scholarship Fund, the Terry Farrell Fund and the Feal Good Foundation on or around 9/11/11 in Manhattan, according to the organization’s Web site.
