Tinton Falls man charged with aggravated assault

 

A Long Branch Police officer was injured after he was attacked by a Tinton Falls man on Tuesday.

Karam Alkhalil, 22, of Tinton Falls was charged with aggravated assault, obstruction and resisting arrest after he allegedly attacked Long Branch Police Officer Alfred Cistaro after "ignoring his directives" while he was performing an investigation, according to court documents.

Alkhalil allegedly attacked and punched Officer Cistaro and injured his right index finger, left thumb, left elbow and right knee while Officer Cistaro was attempting to place him under arrest.

Alkhalil was eventually placed under control, was arrested and was lodged in Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Court on Jan. 10.
