Long Branch Police Investigate Suspicious Item on Seventh Avenue

Police say item was not dangerous

The Long Branch Police and New Jersey State Police Police were called to 255 Seventh Ave. on Tuesday afternoon for a report of a "suspicious item," according to Long Branch Public Safety Director Jason Roebuck.

Roebuck said as of 4:40 p.m., the item was found to not be harmful and that crews were clearing the area. A K-9 Unit from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office was also sent to the area as a precaution

Seventh Avenue was closed from Atlantic Avenue to Joline Avenue for over an hour as a precaution.
