Long Branch Man Indicted in Bank of America Robbery

The robbery occurred on July 12

By Christopher Sheldon

A Long Branch man has been indicted for allegedly robbing a city Bank of America last summer.

Michael Marszalek, 55, is facing one count of armed robbery for taking $1,080 from the bank, which is located on Broadway, on July 12.

Long Branch Director of Public Safety Jason Roebuck said Marszalek went to the bank and gave the teller, who was not identified in the indictment, a note stating that he had a gun and told her to give him money.

Roebuck said Marszalek left the area on bicycle after the robbery.

Minutes later, he was stopped on Dudley Street after his description was given to police.

After viewing the bank's security footage, Marszalek was charged with robbing the bank, Roebuck said.

He remains in Monmouth County jail where his bail was set at $100,000 by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Ronald Reisner.
