Long Branch Man Indicted For Failing To Register As Sex Offender

Man did not report his change of address after moving

 

A Long Branch man has been indicted by a Monmouth County Grand Jury for failing to register as a convicted sex offender.

According to court papers, Mark Johnson, 56, of North Fifth Avenue, between July 26 and Nov. 30, 2011, did not report that he had changed addresses.

Sex offenders are required to notify the police of the town they are moving, at least 10 days before they do so.

Johnson was convicted as a sex offender on Jan. 31, 1994, according to court documents. His indictment for failign to register was handed down on Feb. 3

Failing to register as a convicted sex offender is a fourth degree crime.
