Long Branch Man Forges Prescription To Obtain Drugs, Burglarizes Home, Police Say

John Poole facing several charges from three incidents

A Long Branch man is facing several charges for three incidents where he burglarized a home, stole personal checks from a man and illegally obtained drugs from a local pharmacy, police said.

On Nov. 2, John Poole, 40, of Division Street, allegedly forged the signature of Dr. Sherif Malek on a prescription form to obtain 120 tablets of oxycodone from Ace Pharmacy on Broadway in Long Branch.

On Sept. 29, Poole allegedly obtained personal checks from Edwardo Oliveria, forged his signature, cashed them and received $1,168.

Days earlier, on Sept. 12, Poole allegedly burglarized the home of Mariano Palma on Myrtle Avenue in Long Branch. Poole stole several tools from Palma's home including two nail guns, two chain saws, a wheel barrow, a compressor and a snow blower, all valued at about $3,900, police said.

He was arrested on Nov. 8 and lodged in Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $12,000 bail for the three incidents. He is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Court on Nov. 15.
