Long Branch Burglar Caught by Police

Resident is facing charges from September burglary in Wall

 

A man wanted in connection with a burglary in the south end of Wall, was arrested in another town and charged with the crime, police said.

Robert Settles Jr., 31, of Long Branch, was arrested Oct. 5 by Brick Township police following a traffic stop on Saw Mill Road, Lt. Walter Pomphrey said.

Settles was turned over to Wall Police, where he was charged with a single count of burglary and a single count of theft for his connection for a Sept. 18 burglary on Laurel Court, Pomphrey said.

Settles broke into the home through a window and stole an unidentified amount of property or money from the master bedroom, Pomphrey said.

Settles was taken to Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $25,000 bail, Pomphrey said.

Wall Police are asking residents to report all suspicious activity when it is seen by calling (732) 449-4500.  A tip line has also been set up for all non-emergent calls regarding suspicious and criminal activity within the township (732) 280-4388. The tip line will be monitored daily by detectives, Pomphrey said.
