Late Night Fire Damages Cottage Place Home in Long Branch

Fire started in rear of property

A late night fire "severely damaged" a Long Branch home on Cottage Place, according to Long Branch Fire Marshal Kevin Hayes.

Hayes said the fire occurred at 1:05 a.m. at 100 Cottage Place and started near the rear of the property.

"It started outside the building and burned up a deck, made its way inside and did severe damage to the building," Hayes said.

Hayes said the house's occupants were home at the time of the fire but were not injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Hayes said.
