Fire Marshal Unable to Determine Cause of Shore Regional Bus Fire

Bus manufacturer inspecting two buses bought at same time

The investigation into the fire that destroyed a Shore Regional bus in June has been completed with the fire marshal unable to to determine a cause, Shore Regional Business Administrator Dennis Kotch said this week.

No students were hurt in the incident after bus driver Wendy Bonett  after she pulled it over to the side of Port Au Peck Avenue on June 17.

The students were picked up in another bus and taken to school on time.

Kotch said the bus that caught fire that morning was purchased by the school in 2011 along with two other buses. The two other buses, which were made by the Blue Bird Corporation, were immediately taken out of commission.

"The manufacturer of the bus, Blue Bird, has the two sister buses that we purchased at the same time as the one that burned and they are inspecting those two to see if they can find any clues," Kotch said this week.
