Eatontown Police Arrest Man Who Robbed Local Quick Check
Homeless resident facing robbery, assault and weapons charges
The Eatontown Police have arrested a local homeless man who robbed a local Quick Check on Tuesday night.
Eatontown Police Det. Lawrence Tyler said an armed robbery was reported at the Quick Check, at 128 Wycoff Road, at 11:35 p.m. on Sept. 25.

"The store clerk reported that a subject entered the store and asked for several packs of cigarettes," Det. Tyler said. "After the clerk retrieved the cigarettes the subject pulled out what appeared to the clerk to be a sharp metal object and threatened the clerk with it."
The clerk then handed over cash from the drawer and cigarettes to the subject, who fled the scene on foot.

"Upon the arrival of patrol officers the clerk gave a description of the subject to the officers and they recognized the description as a homeless subject who frequents the area," Det. Tyler said.
An investigation by Det. Sgt. Coffey led to the arrest a short time later of Wayne Deckle, 55, of Eatontown.
Deckle was charged with robbery, assault, and weapons charges and was lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
Eatontown Police Sgt. Troy Fowlkes, P.O. Ryan Braswell, P.O. Brett Paulus and P.O. Jorge Gonzalez assisted Det. Sgt. Coffey in the investigation.
A canine was also dispatched by the Long Branch Police Department to assist at the scene, Det. Tyler said.
