Eatontown Sends CODE RED Alert

The emergency warning system alerted residents on Friday night of the potential strength of the pending storm and offered advice on how to to safe.

The issued a CODE RED alert at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday warning residents of the pending storm and advising them to stay off the roads and remain indoors.

The message informed residents that from late Saturday through late Sunday night and would bring with it winds between 65 and 80 mph and approximately 6 to 12 inches of rain.

While there is no mandatory evacuation set for Eatontown residents, the message said that there would be a if there was any change to that status.

The police expect the storm to bring down trees and wires, which could . Police urge residents to stay away from any downed wires and to contact the department and report any that are observed.

The CODE RED alert also advised residents to refrain from contacting police unless there is an emergency.

Residents are urged to refrain from driving on streets and to remain indoors through the storm.

In light of the impending storm, emergency messages will be broadcast frequently over the weekend through the CODE RED Notification System, and residents must be enrolled in order to receive calls.
