DWI Checkpoint to Be Held Friday Night in Avon

Checkpoint will be on Highway 71 south

The Monmouth County DWI Task Force will conduct a DWI checkpoint to detect drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs in Avon this weekend.

The checkpoint will be run from Friday at 11 p.m. to early Saturday morning at 3 a.m. on Highway 71 South, according to Brielle Police Chief Michael Palmer, who also serves as task force coordinator.

Palmer said, task force members and Avon Police will pull vehicles from the southbound lanes onto Garfield Ave to determine driver’s sobriety.
