Chase Bank in Long Branch Evacuated Following Fire

Brighton Avenue bank suffered damage to its sign

The Chase Bank in Long Branch was evacuated Monday afternoon after a fire damaged one of its exterior signs.

The bank, located at 160 Brighton Ave., was evacuated when the fire was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. All occupants were evacuated without incident.

Reports state that the fire may be electrical in origin, but the official cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The "H" and "A" of the sign in the rear of the bank facing Stop and Shop appeared to have burned off and there was additional damage near the roof of the building.

The Long Branch Police had Brighton Avenue blocked off to vehicular traffic from the railroad tracks to the area around Second Avenue as of 5 p.m.
