Car Hits Lighthouse Italian Ice in Long Branch

Car reportedly backed into building

A white Mercedes hit the front of The Lighthouse Homemade Italian Ice on Brighton Avenue in Long Branch Friday evening.

The incident was reported just after 6:30 p.m. and the car could still be seen with its front end sticking out of the building as of 7 p.m. The driver reportedly backed their car into the building, according to witnesses at the scene.

The Lighthouse is closed for the season, so nobody was in the building at the time of the collision.

The Long Branch Fire Department and Long Branch Police were on the scene and had closed off Brighton Avenue from Second Avenue to Ocean Boulevard.

That was my store she backed into. I gues she was upset the Light house was closed or maybe she needed an emergency order of light bulbs or toilet paper after hours! I am going to need a support boot to pay for the repairs!
