Asbury Park Woman Charged With Possessing Drugs, Guns in Long Branch

Woman allegedly had heroin, marijuana and a handgun

An Asbury Park woman has been arrested and charged with possessing drugs and a gun in Long Branch on Saturday.

The woman, Angela Carson, 23, allegedly possessed 8 bricks of heroin, 27 small zip-lock bags of marijuana, and a semi-automatic handgun. Carson was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute because of the large volume of drugs she was carrying at the time of her arrest, according to court documents.

Carson was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a public building, because she was arrested within 500 feet of Long Branch City Hall on Broadway.

She is facing additional charges because she was not supposed to be carrying a weapon after being charged with aggravated assault in January, 2011.

Carson's was lodged in Monmouth County Jail and her bail was set at $175,000.
