Arrest Made in Eatontown Stabbing

Police arrested an Asbury Park man for his participation in the in Eatontown's Wolcott Park.

Deshawn Esdaile, 20, of Borden Avenue in Asbury Park was arrested by on Aug. 6 as one of four alleged assailants that allegedly attacked a , stabbing him 11 times in the head, neck and back, according to Det. Lt. Lawrence Tyler.

The stabbing followed a late-night altercation in the parking lot at the McDonald's on Route 35 in Eatontown. The victime was chased into neighboring by four assailants and was stabbed 11 times with a folding buck knife when he slipped and fell to the ground. The weapon was discovered at the scene following the attack.

Another teen was assaulted by the attackers, who witnesses describe as black males about 18 to 20 years old, but managed to escape.

Police were able to link Esdaile to the incident following an investigation led by Eatontown Det. Philip Emanuele and through the cooperation of several witnesses. Further investigation established enough probable cause to charge Esdaile with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to police.

The Asbury Park Police Department made the initial apprehension of Esdaile after being notified of the exisiting arrest warrant, according to Tyler.

Esdaile was transported to Eatontown Police Department before being taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution and held on $20,000 bail.
