Winter cold returns

I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy our brief preview of Spring this weekend because winter is back today with cold temperatures and even a few minor threats for snow.

High pressure will gradually take control over the region as an area of low pressure over the North Carolina coast exits into the Atlantic.  A few isolated snow showers will be a threat this morning over southern New Jersey followed by clearing skies through this afternoon.  Scattered clouds are expected through tomorrow evening.  Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph at times.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 20's to mid 30's over the interior and mid to upper 30's along the coast and in urban locations for highs today.  Tonight, temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 10's over the interior and upper 10's to lower 20's for lows.  Tomorrow afternoon, temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 30's for highs.

An area of low pressure well to the southeast of the New Jersey coast will produce a period of light snowfall with accumulations of a trace to an inch over the interior and one to three inches of snow along the coast.  Most locations will have an inch or two of snow out of this disturbance.  Winds will be from the north at 10 to 20 mph.  Temperatures will range from the upper 10's to lower 20's for lows and mid to upper 20's for highs.

High pressure will be in control Thursday on through Saturday with scattered clouds expected.  Temperatures will remain below normal but slowly moderate towards Saturday.  On Thursday, temperatures will range from the lower to mid 10's for lows and lower to mid 30's for highs.  On Friday, temperatures will range from the lower to mid 10's for lows and mid to upper 20's for highs.  On Saturday, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20's for lows and mid 30's for highs.

On Sunday, an area of low pressure will produce periods of snow showers.  The snow showers are expected to be light.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20's for lows and mid to upper 30's for highs.
