Monmouth University Welcomes International Fulbright Student to Campus

Monmouth University welcomed international Fulbright student Ebtihal Al-Alwi to campus this fall. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Ebtihal is pursuing a master’s degree in public policy. She received her undergraduate degree from Basra University in Iraq.  Overseas applicants for Fulbright student awards undergo a very selective interview process. To be selected as a Fulbright grantee is one of the highest accolades earned by scholars and students around the world.

“We are honored that Ebtihal Al-Alwi selected Monmouth University,” said President Paul R. Brown. “Our international students from over 30 countries offer our community many benefits such as added diversity, exchange of ideas, and collaborative scholarship. We have the opportunity to learn from each other and enhance our global perspective.”

“I find my experience at Monmouth University rewarding and inspiring,” stated Ebtihal. “The encouragement and help of faculty and staff are outstanding. They are always ready to provide advice and knowledge to students.”

Dr. Saliba Sarsar, associate vice president for global initiatives, commented, “Ebtihal is hard-working and studious, as well as collaborative and pleasant.  We are delighted to have her at Monmouth University.”
