There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly a quarter of a million active members who are actively involved in providing increased opportunities for higher education to women. The grant was funded through the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education and will be used  to cover educational expenses at Monmouth University.

The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education is one of the organization’s five different projects to support women in the educational goals. It was established in 1973 to provide grants to women in the United States and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families. The maximum one time grant amount is $3,000.
