DEDICATION CEREMONY HELD FOR JOAN & ROBERT RECHNITZ HALL at MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY

Monmouth University dedicated the new Joan & Robert Rechnitz Hall on Sunday, January 27.

Monmouth University dedicated the new Joan & Robert Rechnitz Hall on Sunday, January 27. The 20,340 square foot facility is the new home to Monmouth University’s Department of Art & Design and Principal Art Gallery and includes a two-story gallery, reception area, three state-of-the-art MAC labs, animation and editing studio, classrooms, faculty offices, and a student lounge.  Rechnitz Hall was designed by Monteforte Architectural Studios of Ocean Township.

Rechnitz Hall, designed in the style of the former 800 Building, provides students with cutting-edge technology as well as large, open studio spaces devoted to traditions of drawing, painting, the all-important foundations, and various art history offerings. In addition, the spectacular exhibition space will showcase regional, national, and international artists throughout the year.

Following a brief building dedication ceremony, guests toured the new facility and viewed the art exhibit “Faculty and Friends.” The “Faculty and Friends” exhibit features the work of 57 accomplished artists from across the country - including current faculty and former faculty, alumni and artists who have exhibited in the Monmouth University galleries over the years. The Gallery is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   For more information, visit www.monmouth.edu/arts
