Tinton Falls Crawford House Farm Stand Open For Summer

Produce sold is grown on the Crawford House property

The historic Crawford House in Tinton Falls is offering some special treats for visitors this summer; fresh fruits and vegetables grown on the property.

The Crawford House farm stand opened last Saturday and will continue throughout the summer on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Proceeds from all sales will benefit the Friends of the Crawford House, a non-profit group that hopes to rehabilitate the house. This group is working with the Tinton Falls Historic Preservation Commission, Open Space Committee and Environmental Commission to fix the house so it can be used as a local history and cultural center and a major stop for a trail system currently under development.

The exterior of the building was restored in 2007, but interior repairs still need to be made before the building can be opened to the public.

Tinton Falls Historic Preservation Commission Chair Stacey Slowinski said the farm stand is helping to raise those funds.

Slowinski said the produce sold each Saturday is picked that morning and that quantities will vary depending on what is ripe. Those who wish to buy something fresh for their dinner or afternoon salad should arrive early.

The house is located at 750 Tinton Ave. just west of the bridge and around the corner from MJ's.
