Don't Blame the School Nurses!!!!

Who's responsibility it is to diagnose Lice? Who's fault is it if it is missed or misdiagnosed?

They are blamed if it’s missed and they are blamed if it’s misdiagnosed.  School nurses take the heat when it comes to head lice infestations in schools.  We are very quick to get angry and point fingers at how they are not doing their job.  The truth is it is not their job.  It is not the job of a school nurse to diagnose head lice.  Truth be told, we, as parents are responsible for diagnosing head lice in our own children.  School nurses are overwhelmed and overworked.  They are not provided with the right lighting, tools or timing to do a proper head check.  Head lice in schools is often missed until the case is extremely severe and in some instances some children are misdiagnosed and treated unnecessarily.
We, at Lice Lifters, believe that the best way to prevent head lice from spreading through your family is to catch it early.  We recommend weekly head checks until college.  Head checks should be done with a professional head lice comb.  If you find head lice and/or nits within the first two weeks of contracting it you will be able to treat it quickly and minimally.  Please look on our website www.liceliftersnjshore.com for valuable information about head checks and other important facts about head lice.  We can help!! It doesn’t have to be a nightmare!!
