Social Butterfly Debbie

The Jersey Shore's Debbie Noce knows how to get your party started

If “Jersey Shore Retro” ever got turned into a reality TV series, one of the first people who I’d have on as a regular cast member (right after my wife and kids, of course) would be Social Butterfly Debbie.

I met Debbie Noce, the brains behind Social Butterfly Debbie, several months ago at the Red Bank International Flavour Festival, where she was hawking t-shirts and memorabilia for one of the area bands that she books, the Moroccan Sheepherders. The Social Butterfly brand that Debbie developed is quite an interesting story.

It all started in October 2009 when Debbie, backed with her experience in retail and a penchant for throwing the best parties for her family and close friends, began planning events for others in an effort to support herself and her kids. For two years, Social Butterfly Debbie was a brick-and-mortar business, operating out of her house and promoted mostly by word-of-mouth from anyone who attended any one of Debbie’s events.

From there, the business just mushroomed. In 2011, Debbie began converting her business to a virtual one, now relying mostly on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to do the promotional and planning work for her, as well as to garner resources through her network of social media business partners to help make the events that she plans the best ever.

Debbie’s list of event types that she runs include singles parties, parties for non-profits, charity events, corporate events, fashion shows, reunions, and launch parties for new businesses and products. Debbie also promotes and books several area bands.

Practically every night, Social Butterfly Debbie can be seen fluttering about town at different clubs and venues – sometimes four or five places a night – overseeing the events that she runs, paying close attention to detail, and making sure that everything runs smoothly.

Social Butterfly Debbie’s claim to fame as an event planner was when she and one of her musician clients, Scott Elk, help put together one of the first “Restore The Shore” events in the area back on November 18, 2012 to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Future plans for Debbie include event planning for “second weddings”, a niche market in the event planning industry that has the potential to be a huge moneymaker.

Just recently, my wife and I caught up with Debbie at the Oceanplace Resort & Spa’s Tiki Bar, where the Moroccan Sheepherders were playing. The place was mobbed, the liquor was flowing, the music was playing, and everyone was having a good time. Everybody makes money and walks away happy, another job well done for Social Butterfly Debbie.
