7 Reasons Why My Son With Autism is a Better Man Than I Am

7 Reasons Why My Son With Autism is a Better Man Than I Am.

1) He is sincere. If he likes you, you will know it. If he doesn't, that will also be clear. If he loves you, it is unconditional.

2) He has no ego. He couldn't care less how his hair looks or if his shirt makes him look too skinny. Just as long as it doesn't impede his fun.

3) He finds joy in the simplest things: A paddle and ball, a balloon, those wish blossoms you blow and scatter in the wind on a spring day and a big open field where he can just run.

4) He can not manipulate.

5) When he feels the urge, he dances. When he is inspired, he sings. No matter who is watching and judging.

6) He can not grasp the concept of gossip.

7) He is loyal. If he chooses you, you have a friend forever. Just ask Oscar, Cookie Monster and the Count.

Jerry, it's so great to see a man writing about autism. Your son is a lucky guy!

Jerry, this is as beautiful as it gets. I just stumbled upon this, and I hank you for sharing your loving thoughts. The concept of "disability" truly is in the eye of the beholder. Truth is we all have our own challenges in our life, but those with challenges that most of us see as a "disability" are blessed in such simple ways most cannot even see.
You are clearly a great man to be able to have that wonderful and true perspective as an adult when life can be so chaotic most of us lose sight of the simple beauty in front of us daily. Wishing you and your son/family love, health & happiness always...

I will drive through the area tomorrow to see if I spot anything! Try googling volunteer searchRead More groups for missing dogs. There are a few in the NJ area. Also ask the local SPCA and Humane Society to see if they can lend you humane traps. Try patrolling the area with food of a strong odor...raw meat, steak, etc. Search in tiny groups and split up to avoid scaring him away, and always bring food and a leash in case you have to lure him over and then leash him. Try also sitting in the area last spotted quietly to see if he approaches you. Bring food so he smells it. Just a few things I have learned while doing some dog searches. Keep sharing and put up posters locally...it helps!
