Over 200 people are still being housed at Fort Monmouth as a result of the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority Executive Director Bruce Steadman said the are 71 families, made up of 215 people, living in the two different areas of the fort.

Seventy apartments in the Fort Monmouth lodge area of Oceanport were renovated by FEMA in January so Sandy victims could live there. There also 45 apartments available for families in the McGill Commons area of Eatontown.

Steadman said the number has been decreasing over the last few months.

"Each month the families are finding suitable housing off the fort," Steadman said.
