What Should Go Here? Sea View Towers in Long Branch

Developer plans on building new apartment building

The Sea View Towers at 392 Ocean Ave., Long Branch, have been sitting untouched for several years and are now used solely for military training exercises.

However, the owner of the property is now looking to build something new on the area.

Long Branch Business Administrator Howard Woolley said the owners are planning on demolishing the buildings and creating a lone tower that would house apartments.

Woolley said the tower would also be set back farther from the road and that angled parking would be created on the roadway out of the lots to increase parking in the area.

"Obviously if someone was able to keep that place closed and pay the taxes on it for all this time, they have some deep pockets," Woolley said this week. "These folks do and the housing they are creating down there is extraordinary."

The project would have to get the necessary approvals from the city before it can move forward.

We will let you know when the project is scheduled to appear before the Long Branch Zoning Board of Adjustment or Planning Board.
