This year's collection of turkeys was the highest ever donated, bringing the total to nearly 5,000 since the inception of the Turkey Trot in 1999.

This year’s event featured 30 Monmouth University athletes who participated in the trot walking festivities with residents around Seabrook’s campus to raise money to pay for the turkeys.

“The Turkey Trot assists several worthwhile organizations fulfill a need that assists those in the county who are struggling,” Seabrook Executive Director Art Sparks said. “It is during the holidays that people usually tend to think about those in need a little bit more, but our residents and staff pride themselves on helping the community throughout the year, and gain tremendous satisfaction from ongoing efforts like the Turkey Trot,”
