New Jersey Sierra Club International Coastal Clean Up

New Jersey Sierra Club International Coastal Clean Up

Last year the New Jersey Sierra Club joined thousands of citizens around the world for International Coastal Clean Up Day and we are doing it again this year! On Saturday September 15th join us in Belmar on 12th Avenue and Ocean Avenue for a beach clean up to help keep our oceans clean!

Last year we picked up over 500 cigarette butts, bottle caps, and straws. International Coastal Clean Up Day is vital because participants count all the items that are picked up showing an item by item, location by location Ocean Trash Index, which helps organizations like Ocean Conservancy and Sierra Club promote policies to help keep garbage out of our Oceans. These use once and toss items like plastic bags and water bottles are not only an eye sore on the beach, but are dangerous to marine animals and marine ecosystem. Come join us from 10 AM to 12 PM on September 15th to protect our oceans from this debris.
