Register Now for Mall Walk to Benefit Seniors

EATONTOWN – The Second Annual SCAN Mall Walk will be held from 9 a.m. to 10
a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Seniors Helping Seniors” and the walk is
designed to benefit both the Interfaith Neighbors Meals on Wheels “Adopt a
Senior for Breakfast” program and SCAN , the Social Community Activities
Network that encourages healthy lifestyles and independent living through
classes and signature programs.

Registration and check-in for the walk is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the Monmouth
Mall Food Court.  Water will be provided
and a continental breakfast follows for walkers.

There is no fee to register but participants are encouraged to make a donation
to help Interfaith Neighbors’ Meals on Wheels program to provide a breakfast
meal to homebound seniors in Monmouth County. The cost for that breakfast for
one year is $250.

Sponsorship opportunities also are available to support Interfaith Neighbors in
the following categories: $1,000 buys 500 breakfast meals; $500 buys 250 meals;
$250 buys 125 meals; and $100 buys 50 meals. The deadline for sponsorship is
Sept. 12.

Nearly
3,000 seniors throughout Monmouth County receive meals through Interfaith
Neighbors’ Meals on Wheels nutrition program. Interfaith Neighbors has been the
sole operator of the Monmouth County nutrition program since 1991. This year,
approximately 400,000 meals were prepared, served and delivered to seniors and
disabled persons living in Monmouth County. Interfaith Neighbors is supported
by a volunteer unit consisting of over 500 dedicated individuals working
throughout Monmouth County, recording over 70,000 hours annually in volunteer
service. By participating in the SCAN Mall Walk, community members can demonstrate
their support for preventing senior hunger.

Participants are asked to register for the Mall Walk in advance by calling SCAN
at 732-542-1326 or email office@scannj.com.
