Critelli, Grant, Covin Win Seats on Long Branch Board of Education

Incumbent Tara Beams falls short with fourth place finish in highly-contested race.

A highly-contested race for three spots on the Long Branch Board of Education (BOE) ended on Tuesday night with the election of two incumbents and one newcomer.

Incumbents Michele Critelli, Avery Grant and newcomer Don Covin were the leading vote-getters in a race that featured seven candidates. 

Covin received the most votes with 1,542, followed by Critelli with 1,530 and Grant with 1,392.

The other incumbent, Tara Beams, fell short with 1,047 votes.

Other candidates included Rose Joyce, 925 votes, George Lynch, Jr., 587 votes, and Mary Ann Lumia, 546 votes.
