Holiday Tree Sales to Benefit Local Organizations

The Eatontown Lions and a Tinton Falls firehouse kicked off their annual tree sales with proceeds to benefit needs within the community.

Eatontown Lions Club, Monmouth Mall, Route 35 (main entrance)

The Eatontown Lions Club annual Christmas Tree Sales is open for business in the parking lot of the Monmouth Mall (State Highway 35 Main Entrance). They've moved 300 yards north to the north side of the Main Entrance sign this year and will be open daily until Dec. 24.  Hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday through Friday 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.  A collection box for donations of unused eyeglasses and sunglasses for the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program will be available at the site.

This is a major fund raiser for the Eatontown Lions. One hundred percent of the proceeds are dedicated to Community Service Activities and in support of the various Lion Charities – local, state and national.  Some of the Community Service Projects accomplished was the purchase of materials and construction of a Handicapped Access Ramp for a resident of Tinton Falls and donation to the Borough of Eatontown an electronic Community Bulletin Board replacing a manually posted board that had been donated by the Lions Club 30 years ago.  Charitable Donations were presented to Fisher House, “a home away from home” allowing families of wounded servicemen to be near their loved ones as they recover,  Lions Eye Bank of Delaware Valley, NJ Association Blind Citizens Association’s Camp Happiness and the Eatontown Food Cooperative.

"We go out to Pennsylvania every year ourselves, load the trees, haul them back, and sell them," said firehouse member Brendan Tobin. "All proceeds benefit TFFC #1 and we do all of the work ourselves."

Varieties include Frazier firs, Douglas firs, Concolors, and Blue Spruces and concolors, which have a great citrus smell, said Tobin. Other holiday items for sale are wreaths, pine rope, blankets and tree stands and all can be purchased with either cash or check.
