Tinton Falls DPW Snow Removal Update

Updated 09:35 a.m.Saturday-

Plow crews were put into motion about 8:30 this morning and though the snow has changed to sleet and rain DPW will push much of the slippery, heavy slush out of the roads for improved safety.

Updated 3:40 a.m. Saturday-

All streets in town were salted by 2:55 a.m. Snow has begun to fall moderately and has begun to whiten the grass and untreated surfaces.Additional workers will arrive to man plows should the accumulation approach 2 inches. DPW is continuously monitoring conditions at this time.

It appears that our brief and enjoyable delay in winter snow will end this evening as most forecasts are expecting snow to arrive in our area about midnight tonight. 1- 3 inches are coming our way with a change to freezing rain and then rain sometime tomorrow afternoon. DPW plans to deploy it's five salt trucks beginning at 11 p.m. tonight to provide a layer of salt under the snow where it will be most effective.

All plows were mounted during the day today in preparation for this seasons first measurable snowfall. We at Public Works are hoping for a salt - only event but will begin plowing at about 2 inches accumulation, depending on weather conditions and forecast at that time.

Please travel carefully tonight and tomorrow, especially during freezing rain conditions. Sidewalks and driveways can become dangerous from freezing rain, too!

What a difference a year makes! By this time last year winter had brought us over thirty inches of snow! Please have a great weekend and stay safe.
