Thousands Still Without Power in Long Branch-Eatontown Area

West Long Branch has fewest number of outages in area

Thousands of Long Branch, Eatontown and Tinton Falls residents are still in the dark on Monday morning.

Jersey Central Power & Light's (JCP&L) outage map shows that Long Branch has the most outages with 4,118 customers affected as of 9 a.m.

Eatontown has 2,583 residents who are still without power and 1,169 Tinton Falls customers still are waiting for their power to be restored.

JCP&L's outage map shows that 571 West Long Branch residents do not have power on Monday morning.

The number of outages has been decreasing every day as JCP&L crews continue to repair downed wires and poles throughout the area.

Traffic lights are still not working in many places, so drivers should use caution if they are returning to work this week.

Today is an odd-numbered day so people who last license plate number is odd can fill their tanks on Monday. Lines at gas stations such as the Hess and BP stations on Route 36 are getting smaller by the day, but some smaller stations such as the Singin gas station on Broadway are still without power and remain closed.

We will keep you updated on the number of outages throughout the area as the week progresses.

All of the West End section in Long Branch still has no power. OF COURSE West Long Branch has more restorations, it's we lower-economic groups that always get help last!!!

Eatontown areas off Broad Streeet still no power including businesses. Most frustrating is when you call they only say they are working on it, and could be by Wed. That would make 10 daysw. They cant tell you anymore. If it is the substation, poles or anything else, maybe is they gave you an indication, it may make it a little easier to deal with. We live in an area that loses power with every little storm, maybe they should make the utility company put all underground, those who have underground utilitys do have power.

The Countryside area of West Long Branch is still dark -- all we need is one downed wire fixed on Parker Rd.

Any idea of the condos around Sternberger Ave having power back yet? They're about a block or so south of the Stop & Shop (someone else said that the Stop & Shop had power as of last night).

MY son lives on Green Meadow Dr, Tinton Falls. Any idea as to when power will be restored?

I'm in West End no power no trucks no workers. Freezing in the dark another nite. I can see West LB which has had power for days. And no, we are not economically disadvantaged - just powerless.

Does anyone have any idea when eatontown around broad street will get electric or even some type of answer?
Sari November 06, 2012 at 10:47 PM
Very disheartening...my Dad is 90 years old and lives on Broad Street. I am out on Long Island and speak with him every day. He has a generator and (thankfully) knows how to use it...but REALLY, it is just beyond unbelievable that NOTHING has been restored on his street...and, when you call, no one can give any meaningful information. Now I know that JCP&L and LIPA operate on the same principle of giving useless information at best. Shame on these companies.
