Re-Route: Two Week Shutdown of Sycamore Ave. RR Crossing Begins

NJ Transit is closing the intersection to work on the grade crossing and expects to complete repairs by July 21

Motorists beware: from July 7 to 21, Sycamore Avenue will be closed to traffic near the Little Silver NJ Transit station for repairs to the crossing, which includes renewal of the track bed and road surface.

The project will result in a smoother ride for motorists traveling over the crossing, according to an NJ Transit release.

NJ Transit advises customers requiring access to the parking lot at Ayers Lane and Sycamore Avenue to follow a posted detour around the crossing.

  • Customers may need to board trains from a different platform due to possible track changes/single tracking during off-peak hours on weekdays and weekends.  Please listen closely to boarding announcements at the station.
  • As an alternate, customers may wish to travel to Long Branch Station, where there is paid daily parking available, or a little farther south to Elberon Station, where there is free parking.
  • Customers should allow extra travel time due to possible motor vehicle traffic delays.
