PHOTOS: Eatontown Day Brings the Community Together

Eatontown's Community Day on Saturday brought residents, businesses and community groups together and the only thing missing was the rain.

Chalk it up to crossed fingers, some well-timed rain dances or just plain dumb luck, but Eatontown's long-awaited on Saturday was a shining success.

Despite a rainy forecast, the event went on as planned on Saturday afternoon with nary a drop although a little muggy and buggy. And with so much to do -- from bouncy rides, petting zoos, a historical bus tour and a pulsating that night -- there was little complaining from those in attendance.

Tables lined near the parking lots with vendors, community group and tasty treats like pizza and funnel cakes. As the afternoon progressed there were demonstations by martial arts students, the and Municipal Band and various church groups.

There was also a wiffle ball tournament and a basketball foul shooting contest for the more athletic types.

The organized bus tours highlighting the many notable spots in town and knowledgeably narrated by member Kathy Heller. Highlights included the two lights transplated from Penn Station in New York to the front yard of a home on Tinton Avenue and the home on Buttonwood Avenue that is said to date back to 1699.

Kids were kept busy bouncing down the inflatable slide, going for a pony ride and feeding the critters in the petting zoo and the lucky ones were treated to a viewing of Despicable Me, brought to Community Day by at .
