After hearing the plans for a proposed synagogue that would be placed in West End, the Long Branch Zoning Board did not reach a decision on the application. The next scheduled hearing is slated for Sept. 10.

A state of emergency was declared in Monmouth County after a bridge carrying three of New Jersey American Water's pipes collapsed. Outdoor water use was banned and a boil water advisory was issued to most Monmouth County towns

Aaron's Gold Store in Eatontown was robbed by two men on June 18. Police are still searching for the two men, who allegedly robbed another jewelry store a week later.

The body of a 17-year-old boy who drowned on Memorial Day weekend was discovered in the surf near Pier Village almost a week after he was reported missing.

The U.S. Army was back at it on June 5, this time performing training exercises near Fort Monmouth. Residents of Eatontown and Tinton Falls complained of hearing loud bangs and helicopters into the late hours of the night.

This was a strange story where three men in a stolen van robbed a woman of her cellphone and ended up being pursued by police before crashing into a home in Ocean Township. All three suspects were eventually apprehended.

New Jersey American Water customers were forced to boil their tap water for three days after a bridge carrying three of the company's pipes collapsed. An outdoor water usage ban remains for all customers.

A huge fire destroyed a beautiful home on Hollywood Avenue in West Long Branch on June 1. The home was being renovated at the time and "spontaneous combustion of certain materials at the site" was found to be the cause of the blaze.

The U.S. Army performed training exercises on June 4 in and around and old apartment building on Ocean Boulevard. Low-flying helicopters and simulated grenade and gunfire were heard by residents as far away as West Long Branch. It turned out that Fort Bragg was responsible for the training exercises.
