Katia Deep in Atlantic, but Storm Could Make Waves Next Weekend

Meanwhile, there's a forecast of rain from Monday through Wednesday with the atmosphere super- laden with moisture from Tropical Storm Lee, which is currently in Louisiana.

Hurricane Katia may -- or may not -- make some weather for coastal New Jersey by next weekend.

Forecasters believe the storm, which is now near the Leeward Islands, may track by Hatteras Island in North Carolina before heading more northeasterly, but predictions do not so far show the storm making landfall along the Atlantic.

The storm is too far away in both time and distance to make a certain forecast: National Hurricane Center projections are only for five days because they lack much accuracy beyond that time period.

"It is too uncertain to say," according to a meteorologist with the National Wether Service in Mounty Holly.

But while all eyes are turned toward Katia deep in the Atlantic, bands of moisture from Tropical Storm Lee, currently over Louisiana, is very likely to add to the intensity of rain forecasted for Galloway Township from Monday through Wednesday, according to the meteorologist.

The current forecast calls for clearing Thursday. The weekend forecast is so far good, but that could change depending on Katia's exact course.
